Day Nursery Ofsted Inspections

Our children's nursery in Castleford, like all other nurseries, is regularly inspected by the nurseries’ inspector Ofsted.

In our last Ofsted (10th January, 2017) we were awarded a ‘GOOD’ overall grading – which we were thrilled about. Below are just a few of the very complementary comments Ofsted wrote about us in their report:-

  • “Staff are highly successful in working in partnership with parents. They develop positive relationships and work with them to promote children's learning and development in the nursery and at home."
  • “Staff have a good understanding of how babies and children learn and develop. They apply their knowledge and skills well. Children enjoy a good range of motivating and engaging activities.”
  • "An effective key-person system ensures that children form close relationships with the staff. Staff are responsive to children's needs. They give lots of praise to children during activities to support their good self-esteem.”
  • “The provider and management team demonstrate a strong commitment to continuously improving the quality of the setting. They set high expectations for children's learning and the quality of provision.”
  • “Staff provide children with clear, age-appropriate and consistent behavioural expectations. This contributes towards children's behaviour being very good. ”

Ofsted 2010 (also graded ‘GOOD’)

  • “Children are well cared for in a safe, clean and caring environment.”
  • “Effective staff deployment means that all children are well supervised and supported. There is a good range of toys and resources available throughout the nursery.”
  • “Across all age groups, babies and children are happy and enjoy accessing the child-centred environment; there is good emphasis on child-led activities with colourful age appropriate toys, resources and play areas attractively laid out for them.”
  • “Staff are on hand to support and encourage learning during play; they interact well with children.”
  • “Communication, language and literacy are fostered throughout the nursery.”
  • “Children’s vocabulary is developing well; staff engage children in conversations and listen to children and respond appropriately, encouraging them to think for themselves.”
  • “Children are interested and enthusiastic to learn.”
  • Children “are provided with healthy snacks and meals and learn positive routines of hygiene”
  • “Children’s behaviour is good and staff act as positive role models.”
